TRAINING

As a bunch of ex-journalists and PR pros, we've got oodles of media experience. So, we asked ourselves, how can we put this acquired knowledge to better use?

The answer is simple: By helping to transfer that know-how to other businesses and people.

Media training

This is geared specifically for those people who are to be interviewed by the media. We'll show you how to take control of an interview and ensure your message gets across to your audience. We'll show you some of the tricks of the trade and warn you about some of the pitfalls. The 'theory' is pretty much common sense. It's the practical interviews done in safety behind closed doors that tests the mettle of potential spokespeople.

Our media training is ideally suited for individuals or groups of up to four people. Sessions can last a couple of hours or a full day depending on your needs.

Media awareness training

This is the exact opposite of media training. Our media awareness training has been created to give people an insider's view of how the media operates. It's designed to warn people about the potential dangers of getting things wrong. It's designed to make people think about their actions. Because what they do in public could spark some unflattering headlines.

Our media awareness training sessions are designed for for any number of people. But the more the merrier. It lasts just over an hour so can easily be fitted into a busy day.

Writing training

“...information is of no use at all if it is obscured by poor, jargon-ridden and dense English.

Clear English should be the priority for all those who use the language in this new millennium. And news English at its best is the clearest English of all.”

Neil Fowler
President of the Society of Editors
Introducing Essential English for Journalists, Editors and Writers by Harold Evans

Neil Fowler is bang on. We couldn't say it any better than him. So we haven't. Our writing training is based on this philosophy. Our writing courses introduce people to the discipline and structure of news English.

The training works best with groups up to half a dozen people or so. The sessions are practical workshops that put people through their paces. Oh, and they’re great fun too.

The media training offered by Fides is expertly run by experienced trainers who successfully test key messages and ensure spokespeople are prepared for even the toughest interview.
